The icon of the Exchange Virtual Server (Under Admininstrative Groups, Site,
Server, Protocols, HTTP) displays a question mark with a hand holding a
globe. Does it pose a problem? I tried to lookup the information from MS
site but had no luck.

thanks

Hi,

I would check to make sure that the default website is running or if you
created a new http virtual server make sure that site is running within IIS.

If it has a ? mark then it is possible that the site is not started.

Keith,

Thanks for your reply.
The default web site is not startable. Received this error:

Unexpected error 0x8007c801 occured.

I tried to search this error but had no luck finding it.

Hi,

1. right click on the virtual server that won't start and click properties.
2. on the 'Web Site' tab, make sure the description is not blank. If it is,
type
one in (the friendly name for the virtual server).
3. click on the 'Home Directory' tab.
4. if it is set to 'a directory located on this computer' then make sure to
set the
Local Path to the wwwroot folder. this folder is in x:\inetpub\wwwroot by
default
(where x: is the system drive).
5. click OK.

I looked at the 'default web site' again and found that there are couple
extensions missing. I added those back in (.asp, .cdx) and the web site
started without any problem. The subwebs seems to look the same way the
other servers does (Exchweb has the folder/globe icons, public, Exchange and
Exadmin have the Red Stop Sign Error icons). However the Exchange Virtual
Server still shows the ? mark. Hopefully this mark will turn back to normal
after the replication happens within Exchange

Thanks

HI,

Yes the ? mark should go away after the replication.

You may want to stop and then start the default website, then hit the f5
key and see if those stops go away.

if not,

Check the event viewer for some w3svc errors.
