My Exchange 2003 server is plugging along for a couple of years now. It
hasn't required very much intervention over time and since I dont have the
luxury of specializing in each of the network components, as a review, what
should be done on an ongoing basis to insure the integrity of the
information? Every night I run and NT backup of the system state and the
information store. Looks like it automatically does an online defrag too.
Are there any utilities related to cleanup or integrity that also need to be
scheduled? After I run these two backups each night, I have them copied to
another source server and backed up to tape. If i have system failure, is it
possible to come back to life with just these two backups and what can I do
maintenance wise to keep the database in order?

Hi,

There is nothing else you need to do. Make sure that the backup is running
and you should be fine. A full backup of the information store and the
system state of the server should be enough to get the server in the air
again after a disaster.
