Hi

We have some users that want to use Thunderbird, so I configure them POP3
account. Now when they try to sent message to non-company address outside of
our comapny LAN via Exchange SMTP (smtp.mydomain.com) it's not permitted
(that's OK), but when I enable SMTP authentication at client mail settings
it doesn't work.
How can I configure Exchange SMTP so that authenticated users can send mail
through it?
Thanks!

A quick Google reveals a host of articles. I think:
http://www.quantumsoftware.com.au/Support/KB/Article.aspx?ID=182 is
probably easiest for you to follow.

Thanks, I tried to set it up but it doesn't work.
I have 2 default receive connectors
- Client - TLS+Basic authentication & Exchange users permissions
- Default - TLS+Basic+Exchange Server+Integrated authentication &
Anonymous,Exchange users,Exchange servers,Legacy Exchange permissions
- ThirdOne to allow internal mail flow via smtp - TLS authentication &
Anonymous permissions
Trying several options, I can't get Exchange ready so that users outside our
LAN with Outlook Express using Exchange SMTP can relay through server when
they are authenticated?
Any ideas?

It's the right article for the problem you posted. I would suggest you
started from scratch.

Are you saying you can't find the place or are you saying that you
have found the place but there aren't any connectors there?
If it's the latter you can just create the connector although I'd be
interested to know why there aren't two connectors there.

Did you have problems, failures or anything when you installed the
box?

Thanks, I have two receive connectors (client and default) under server
configuration - hub transport, and I set a new (external) connector as it
was described in article but it doesn't work.
Users outside company LAN with POP3 accounts can't send via company-Exchange
SMTP to external domains even using authentication. I always get
relay-access denied.
I can't find on Exchange 2007 connector that is described in the article at
the bottom under 'Configuring Exchange Connector' or am I looking wrong?

You've just not read the whole thing. You weren't really supposed to
read the box at the bottom as that's relevant to their s/w, only so
far down the list.
Here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232021(EXCHG.80).aspx is
another one that should be a little more difficult to follow.
